Mark Baller - Managing Director
Mark studied Mechanical Engineering at the Vaal Triangle Technikon before completing his national service and joining the family business in 1990. Beginning at the company doing installation and fabrication management, Mark  then spent two years in Australia, first at the University of New South Wales and then Perth where he completed several courses in material handling. On his return to South Africa he first assumed the position of production manager and worked his way up to his present position as managing director. Mark has over 20 years experience in the mining industry, manufacturing and project management.

Alwin Nienaber - Operations Director
After completing his N5 and trade test, Alwin moved into the then brand new industry of CAD design. After working as a consultant, instructor and designer for 10 years he joined the WEBA Team in 1995 as chief designer. Under his direction, WEBA has successfully designed over 2800 chutes. He has introduced cutting-edge technologies, systems and processes to create technically advanced and cost efficient material handling systems. He is passionate about WEBA Chutes' ongoing progress and development.

Edward Cruickshank (Ted) - Drawing Office / Project Manager
After completing his national service, Ted completed his Electrical Trade Test. Ted was involved in various projects at Mossgas, Sasol and other polypropylene plants. In 1997, Ted joined the Weba Team, starting as a draughtsman in the drawing office. He moved up through the ranks of senior draughtsman and drawing office manager to the position he now fills as project manager.

Anne-Lize Groesbeek - Financial Manager
After completing a diploma in accounting, Anne-Lize accumulated more than 14 years experience in accounting, financial management, information technology and administration. She joined the Weba team in 2008 as financial manager.

Caren Engelbrecht – Administration Manager
After 18 years experience in office administration and as a PA, Caren joined the Weba Team as administration manager in 2002. Caren completed the SAP Business One Administrator course in 2007 and has been instrumental in implementing the document control system and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the department .

Wessel Sevenster - Production Manager
After completing his national service, Wessel studied a BSc. at the University of Pretoria. Wessel has 23 years experience in structural steel and plate work fabrication as well as production management. He joined the WEBA team in 2011 as production manager.

Jan Opperman - Business Improvement Manager
Jan has over 21 years experience in the mining industry with companies such as Iscor and Kumba. He was involved in both plant operation and maintenance, as well as many major project teams. In 1997 he joined the WEBA team and has brought experience and expertise to the company assisting with many projects locally and internationally.

Leon Swanepoel - Regional Manager
After completing his national service, Leon joined the Assmang group as an apprentice. Over the following 20 years he worked his way up to drawing office manager at Beeshoek mine and was involved in many projects and operational improvements. After leaving Beeshoek, Leon worked as a contractor / consultant at several mines in the Northern Cape region before joining the WEBA Team in 2010 as the regional manager for the Northern Cape.

Hilton Buys - Regional Manager
Hilton joined Scaw Metals as an apprentice structural plater in 1986 and completed his trade in 1989. He continued to work at Scaw Metals as a boiler maker/rigger. In 1993 he joined the WEBA Team and was involved in fabricating some of the first WEBA Chute Systems. He was promoted to site/installation manager and was responsible for installing and maintaining many WEBA Chute Systems. Hilton has an in-depth knowledge of the operation and performance of the WEBA Chutes. In 2010 Hilton was promoted to regional manager for Limpopo.

Faizal Mahommed – After-Sales Manager
After working at Hewlett Aluminium for 9 years as a draughtsman, Faizal joined the WEBA Team in 1996 as a draughtsman. He was involved in designing one of the first WEBA Chute Systems and later he was promoted to senior draughtsman involved with the design and development of the WEBA Chutes. In 2010 he became the after-sales manager, responsible for the maintenance team and site installations.

Ersilio (Cilo) Quental De Sousa – Drawing Office Manager
Cilo completed his boilermaker apprenticeship at Iscor and at Babcock Wilcox before being appointed as a specialist welder at Fluor SA working on fuel plant installations at Sasol II and Sasol III. He later joined Cometal Pipe Installations as site manager for the fabrication of complete fuel depots and then worked for Marlen Industries as a workshop and production manager. He joined the WEBA team in February 2000 in the same role and has since moved up the ranks to senior design draughtsman, production manager and to his current role as drawing office manager.

Charmaine Basson — After Sales Administration Manager
Charmaine holds a Certificate in Bookkeeping and a Higher Certificate in Office Administration (Distinction) from Damelin. She has 27 years of experience in office administration, including eight years in salaries and debtors. Charmaine joined the WEBA team in February 2010 as a Salaries and Debtors Administrator and, a year later, she was promoted to her current role as After Sales Administration Manager. In this newly created position, Charmaine’s  vision is to provide a stable customer service environment to assist and support the sales process through the effective and continued maintenance of the WEBA product range.

Werner Baller - CEO

After finishing his studies as an engineer in Germany, Werner emigrated to South Africa with only his passion for engineering and very little English. He worked for many years in the ceramic and mining industries before starting his own company. In 1984 Werner bought the then small mining supply company M&J Engineering which specialised in underground coal mining equipment. Recognising a need in the industry Werner developed the WEBA Chute System concept which is now recognised as one of the best transfer chutes globally. He has over 27 years experience in transfer chute systems and over 45 years total experience in the mining and engineering industries and has developed 9 patented products including the WEBA Chute System.
